at all of merit or man's

Charles Haddon Spurgeon
Invitation to Church
Have you ever been to a church service? The pastor usually leads the service, opening the meeting with a brief prayer. Three or four hymns, praising a merciful God and describing a wonderful gospel, are sung by the congregation. There is also a reading from the inspired Word of God and the main prayer, where the Pastor brings us before the Lord. The main part of a gospel service is given to offering sinful men and women a way back to God through Jesus Christ. The central theme is always the cross, where the Saviour suffered in the place of those who look to Him. The service finishes with an opportunity to meet the people. There is always a welcome.
